Crowdz (“Crowdz,” “we,” “us”) provides a mobile app and website that help people discover events and help hosts operate real-world communities (“Crowdz groups”), including ticketing, memberships, and messaging features.

1) Age Requirement (18+)

Crowdz is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We use date of birth to verify eligibility and prevent under-age access.

2) Information We Collect

A. Account & Profile

  • Name, email, username, profile photo, and profile details you provide.
  • Date of birth (for 18+ age verification).

B. Location

  • Approximate location (for local discovery).
  • Precise location only if you enable location permissions; if you deny permission, you may manually enter a location.

C. Content & Communications

  • Posts/media you upload, comments (where enabled), and other content you create.
  • Private direct messages (DMs) and related metadata.
  • Event interactions (RSVPs, likes, follows, joins, check-ins/attendance).

D. Purchases, Tickets, Memberships, Referrals

Purchase history and transaction records for:

  • Host subscriptions (in-app).
  • Tickets (processed via Stripe).
  • Web-based memberships for a host's group tiers (web checkout; entitlements sync to app).
  • SMS credits (web).
  • Referral tracking and reward balances for the Crowded referral system (ref IDs, attribution, wallet balances; rewards may be held until an event occurs to reduce fraud).

E. Device & Usage Data

  • Device identifiers and basic technical data (device type/OS), app usage, and diagnostics.
  • Analytics data (including tools such as Google Analytics).

3) How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the service (accounts, communities, events, ticketing, messaging).
  • Personalize discovery and recommendations (including location-based discovery).
  • Process transactions and enable payouts, including verification steps required for ticket sales and payouts.
  • Maintain safety, prevent abuse/fraud, enforce rules, and operate trust/reputation controls (reports, dispute/chargeback signals, rate limits).
  • Communicate with users about service updates and account activity (push/email; SMS where applicable).

4) How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

We share information with service providers as needed to run Crowdz, including:

  • Database/hosting providers (e.g., Supabase and infrastructure partners) to store and deliver the service.
  • Payment processors (Stripe for tickets/web purchases; Apple/Google for in-app subscriptions). Stripe may process identity verification for monetizers.
  • Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand usage and improve performance.
  • Messaging providers for email/push/SMS delivery, if used.

We may also share information when required by law, to respond to legal requests, or to protect rights, safety, and the platform.

5) Cookies & Attribution (Website)

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality and for referral attribution (e.g., 30-day cookie attribution and last-click attribution for Crowded links).

6) Your Choices & Controls

  • Location: You can enable/disable location permissions in your device settings.
  • Account deletion: You can delete your account inside the app. After deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data where feasible, and retain limited records where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g., transaction records).
  • Communications: You can manage notification preferences, and where SMS is used you may opt out.

7) Data Retention

We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service and operate safety and financial integrity controls. Certain records (e.g., transactions, disputes, audit logs) may be retained longer to comply with legal or accounting requirements and to prevent fraud.

8) Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information. Payment card details for Stripe transactions are handled by Stripe; in-app subscription billing is handled by Apple/Google.
